Update: 8:00 PM Journal entry by Jim King

Hi everyone, sorry about taking so long with an update.  I just talked to the first surgeon, his part is now done, her stomach has been removed.  He said it took a bit longer than he expected because Mel’s esophagus is a bit shorter than most people and he had to do some extra work to get the intestines attached to the esophagus.  He said other than that, everything went fine, and there are no long term problems with this but it will require her to be in the hospital an extra day or two, probably until Monday.  He also said that they were just getting started with the Hysterectomy and that it would probably take a good hour or more.  So at this point it does not look like she will be up to the room until probably after 10.

I will post another update when I know more.  Thanks again everyone!

Jim

OMG I have to agree with Peter “hang in there”. So much going on. You must be mentally and physically exhausted. Both of you.
