Day 2 Journal entry by Jim King

Good morning.  After a long day Melanie finally got up to her room just after midnight.  She was still pretty groggy but I was able to talk with her.  She met with the surgeon, Dr. Kendrick this morning and also had a test to determine if there was any leakage where the esophagus is connected to the intestines.  The test showed there is no leakage so they now have her on a clear liquid diet with the thought that she will be able to start eating soft foods pretty soon.  She is still in a fair amount of pain but they are letting her administer the pain medications herself as needed.

So far everything is pretty much going along according to plan.  I’m sure she will want to provide an update herself as soon as possible.

Jim

How are you doing Jim? This had to be very hard for you and Cody.
Our prayers are with you.

Hang in there Jim. The “new normal” is right around the corner. Both of you are strong people and will play this tough hand just as you have every other hurdle thus far. Regards,

So glad to hear that today is “recovery” day instead of “go back in there and patch it all up” day! Hang in there, Jim. I’m so thankful she has you in her life.
