Hi there!

Well, I am back.  Thank you so much to everyone that kept us in your prayers.  Day 3 has been an eventful day.  I have been upgraded to food and have had some pureed meatloaf, pureed mashed potatoes and pureed carrots.  I gained around 8 pounds in water weight that I was retaining the day after surgery.  Needless to say I have had a lot of trips to the bathroom.  That is a lot of water weight to “dispense”.

Thank you to my visitors over the last two days.  How nice to see your faces.  🙂

Long story short, my esophagus is shorter than normal.  This caused for additional work initially.  Then the pathologist wanted the surgeon to go back in and remove more of it to ensure that there wasn’t any stomach tissue left.  This caused even more work.  There was really only a small amount of time that I was in significant pain.  I vaguely remember telling them that my pain number 1-10 was 400.  After that I don’t remember much.

Good news – NO CANCER ANYWHERE!!!!!

I got to shower today and take a few walks.  They are still working to get my digestive track working.  Apparently this takes longer when you have abdominal surgery.

Looks like I should be able to home on Monday.  Thank you all for the prayers!  They are very appreciated!

That’s it champion! Life gives you meatloaf and you purée it. Maybe we created a new cliche.  Best wishes for a quick return home and perfect recovery.

Which hospital are you in, Mel? Methodist or St. Mary’s?
Day Three is often difficult; naturally, yours was good. You continue to amaze me.
