So glad to see this article in the Wall Street Journal. The additional exposure to CDH1 will help to give more hope to those that face similar fates. This article also helps me defend my answer the most common question I get. Why did you do it if you were healthy? Usually the fact that I did get the breast cancer is enough but some have that comment that you may have never gotten it, so why? In the article, one family had a daughter die at 35 however the mother and grandmother had the gene but did not get the cancer. With this genetic mutation, you simply do not know. So, you roll the dice or act proactively. I am happy that I had my surgery. I am happy that I can cross that particular cancer off my list. Food is way more important to me now than ever. Life is going on and it is good. ![]()
