Today, March 19th 2014, I learned that I have breast cancer.  I am at the beginning of a very scary journey.  My rocks, my family, stand by my side to help.  Jim who has sat through many Dr. appointments and will have many more to come, my amazing son Cody who is my living proof that prayer and miracles do happen, my beautiful step-daughter Alex who has already offered her shoulder for my tears and Phil, even though he is so far away is a comfort.  My mom, brothers/sisters, spouses and kids – I am blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive family of people to help.

I honestly cannot remember the name of the type of cancer I have.  (I will find out tomorrow)  My brain turned a bit mushy after the dreaded “it’s breast cancer” words were said.  The doctors have let me know that they will be dealing with this aggressively and swiftly to ensure that this cancer doesn’t stay in me very long.

I am using this great site to update everyone as I go through my Dr. visits, surgery and whatever else they throw at me.  Though I would love to speak to all of you, right now I need to focus on my treatment plan.  Please leave a message if you like and check back to get updates on where we are at.

UPDATE – I have learned that my breast cancer was caused by a mutated gene called CDH1.  This gene has an 80+ % chance of causing stomach cancer.  I have elected to have a total gastrectomy which will remove my stomach completely to prevent me getting a very aggressive, commonly non-treatable kind of stomach cancer.  This journey is also included in my blog.

I have added a few pages to this blog.  Snacks I like contains items that I have found that I can eat easily on the run.  Recipes is just that.  I love to cook so thought I would share.  My photo album contains photos of nature that I would like to share.
