The guy in the red sweatshirt right next to me is my brother, Roger. He is headed down to Rochester in this lovely snowstorm that we are having today. First of all, I am asking for prayers of safe travel for Roger and his wife Edie.
Secondly, and more important, I ask for MAJOR prayers for the procedure he is having tomorrow. For those of you that read his blog, you may already know. In short, Roger has the same genetic mutation as I do and elected to have the preventative surgery to remove his stomach as I did last January. His experience has been exponentially different from mine on many levels, even though we have the same gene and the same surgeon. One thing that has been the same is that Roger has been dealing with a stricture and having to go down for dilations. He has had five dilations to date. Dr. Kendrick has decided that it is time to try the next stage. The stent. Wow, it’s even hard to type that word. Obviously, not a good experience for me but, Dr. Kendrick assures him that my experience was not normal and that this is the best next step to help my brother eat and stop losing weight.
I ask for prayers that he will have a different experience. That the his body will accept the stent. That the stent will help him and he will not have any more issues with the stricture and he will be at home tomorrow night. He can do this and will get a break from all of the side effects from the surgery.
Thank you all for the additional prayers!
