I have a feeling that I will be dying by paperwork. The entire process to get Medical Assistance (MA) is daunting. There are so many parts that need to be shared and diagnosed. At this time we do not have medical assistance so we cannot commit to a memory care center.

However, GOOD NEWS. The memory care center in Cokato has an open bed. This is a really good thing! I have given the approval for the Litchfield social worker to start the process to get mom assigned to this memory care unit. I really do feel that this is the best place for her to be. Please say a prayer that we can get the paperwork done so we can get mom into this place. It is only 10 beds, all female and have really good reviews. I need to have her be able to be here. It feels right and is the best option we have.

After we have MA figured out then we will likely need to figure out Medicaid. With that they can help us pay for mom’s rent. Apparently, MA only covers things that are medical in nature. The rent to stay there is not covered. My understanding is that Medicaid can help with those costs. In the end, the paperwork that I can do is going to help my mom be in the best place that she can be. Unfortunately, it means changes for others that I cannot control. Please know that I do not choose this but it is necessary for the MA to be approved and that is my goal.

The most IMPORTANT piece. My mom’s birthday is Monday and she has had a lot of issues with the fact that she will be forgotten. If you can and want to send a card, please send it to me. We (Me, Jim, Cody & Alex) will be visiting her on Sunday for a little pre-birthday party. We will bring any and all cards that we get to her then. If you miss Sunday then we will just bring them next time. Thank you all for your support and love for my mom. It means the world to us.
